For owner-run businesses in Surrey

Big-company thinking. Small-business price.

I have spent ten years designing and building systems for large companies. Typemono is where I use that experience to help local businesses with between one and thirty people. Each project is a two-week sprint at a fixed price, and it ends with one working fix rather than a report.

The Sprint

Most small businesses run on WhatsApp, a few spreadsheets and the owner's memory. That works until it does not. The software on offer is usually either too simple to be useful or built for companies with hundreds of staff. The sprint is a way to find the slow, manual part of your business and replace one piece of it with something that works properly.

Week 1

Look

I spend two half-days with you and your team. I follow how work moves through the business and note where it slows down or stops. By the second day I will tell you which one thing is worth fixing. If I do not find anything that would pay for itself, I will say so, and you will not be charged.

Week 2

Build

I build the fix. It might be a quote page that your customers can accept on their phone, a document that is written from your notes automatically, or a reminder that chases an unpaid invoice for you. Whatever it is, you will see it working before the two weeks are up.

After

Run

Most fixes need somewhere to live. I can host and support what I build for a small monthly fee, so you do not have to think about it. If you would rather run it yourself, you can. The work belongs to you either way.

Not sure if this is for you?

Book a 20-minute call and I will tell you honestly whether a sprint would pay for itself.

How I work

01

One fix at a time

If I cannot describe the problem in a single sentence, I will not start the work. Keeping the scope small is what allows me to fix the price and still finish it well.

02

Built for a phone first

Everything I build is designed to work on a phone before it works on a desktop. Your customers should not need to log in, and your staff should not need to read a manual.

03

Big-company standards without the big-company process

Ten years of enterprise delivery has shown me where systems tend to break. I keep the discipline that prevents those problems and leave out the meetings and paperwork that come with it.

The standard

Nothing leaves until it works on your worst day.

I spend time on the parts most small-business tools skip: clear error messages, sensible behaviour when there is no data yet, and what happens when the internet drops in the van. That care is what makes a fixed price possible.

Quotes accepted on the customer's phone

Problem
Quotes were sent as photographs of paper in WhatsApp. Customers often took days to reply, and Sam spent evenings chasing them.
Fix
A quote page the customer can open, read and accept in one tap, with a deposit taken at the point of acceptance.

These first projects were done without charge while I worked out the method. The sprint is the same work with a price on it.

About

Tim Perry

Woking, United Kingdom

I am a technology advisor at a large consultancy.

Over the past ten years I have designed and built cloud, data and AI systems for banks, media companies and retailers. I live in Woking, and I would like to use that experience for the businesses I walk past every day, not only for companies that already have large technology budgets.

Typemono is just me. There is no account manager and no team you have not met. The person you speak to on the first call is the person who builds the fix and supports it afterwards.

Try a fix for yourself. Each demo is a working example of what a sprint builds, with made-up details. Open one on your phone: that is where your customers will use it.

If you would like something similar for your business, such as a booking flow, a customer app or a loyalty page, that is a sprint too.

Twenty minutes. No pitch.

Tell me how work moves through your business. I will tell you whether a sprint would pay for itself and, if it would not, what I would do instead.
