Labs

Small products, built properly.

Labs is where I build things of my own, in the same house style as the client work. The demos are working examples of what a sprint builds, with made-up details, for you to try. The products are finished things: each has a name, a design, and people using it.

Four rows of the CompareOS grid: Workflow, Retention, Espresso suitability and Pour-over suitability, each rated Okay or Great for the DF64 Gen 2.

CompareOS

IN PROGRESS

A comparison spreadsheet with a research assistant layered on top: products are columns, the factors you care about are rows, and the ranking shows its working instead of inventing a score.

The Typemoney overview for a made-up household: where September ends up, with the month's money in and committed spending.

Typemoney

PRIVATE

A dashboard that puts my household's Monzo and credit card spending in one place, by month and by category. It is private, so there is no link, and the screenshot uses made-up numbers.

CompareOS, in progress

Deciding between similar things means holding a dozen half-remembered reviews in your head at once. CompareOS puts them in a grid instead: what you are choosing between across the top, the factors that matter to you down the side.

The model drafts a first pass so the grid is never empty, and marks every cell it filled. You change any of it. Weight a row up and the ranking moves, and it will tell you which row moved it.

The CompareOS workspace: three coffee grinders compared down seven factors, each cell a word rating such as Okay, Great or Incredible, with a ranking panel grouping the three into tiers.
The example workspace: three coffee grinders, seven factors, and word ratings rather than scores out of ten. The panel on the right groups the three into tiers and says where the ranking turns, so you can see what the order depends on.

Why I build these

A sprint is two weeks. That only works if the tools, the habits and the judgement are already in place before the first day, which is what these products are for.

They are also the honest answer to a fair question: what does this person actually ship? A case study is a story about work. These you can open and use.

Everything here is built the way your sprint would be — the same stack, the same design system, the same standard for what counts as finished.

04

What this means for you

If one of these looks like something your business needs — a booking flow, a customer app, a loyalty page — that is a sprint. Two weeks, one fixed price, one working fix.

If it does not, the products are still the best evidence I can give you of how the work turns out.

Twenty minutes. No pitch.

Tell me how work moves through your business. I will tell you whether a sprint would pay for itself and, if it would not, what I would do instead.
